It’s getting pretty cold outside! By now, the holiday rush is in full swing; what better place to get away from the madness than historic Gettysburg? We can think of a few ways to keep you nice and warm, even if the snow is falling down.
Many folks think of Gettysburg only for the walking battlefield tour, which would be a little chilly this time of year. However, there are plenty of indoor attractions to enjoy in Gettysburg all winter long; stay warm, come visit, and enjoy the holiday season with us!
Travel in Style (and Heat)
Still want to immerse yourself in the history of the battlefield, even in the cold of winter? Enjoy a bus tour with us! All of our buses are heated, so you can view the enormous battlefield and its history while staying cozy and warm.
In the winter, our battlefield tour crowd thins out (since no one wants to walk in the cold!), giving you the opportunity to see a whole new side of the battlefield. Allow the haunting beauty of the battlefield to tell its own story as you roll on through – history can be warm!
Take a Class – About Wine!
Do you love wine? Do you know very little about wine, but want to learn to appreciate it? Winter is a great time to start a fun indoor hobby (like wine appreciation), and Gettysburg is the perfect place to begin! Adams County Winery offers fun, informative tours of the vineyard. The experts at the vineyard will teach you all about wine history, vineyard activities, the winemaking process, attributes of wine, and of course a tasting supplemented by a light meal. How much better can a wintry day get?
Go Back in Time
One of the best ways to delve into history is through museums. Fortunately for you, Gettysburg is chock full of fascinating, interactive museums ready to bring you right into the action for the day. The Shriver House Museum, Jennie Wade House, Gettysburg Diorama Museum, and so many more are all incredibly interesting (and indoor heated) attractions for the whole family to enjoy. Just be sure to check the limited winter hours before you book – many of our museum attractions are available only on weekends during our “off-season” months.
Get Spooky with a Ghost Tour
Fear not, for our haunting ghost stories take place indoors! Enjoy a Christmas like no other with our bewitching “Scary Ghost Stories and Tales of the Glories” tour or “The Dark Side of Christmas” storytelling experience. But beware – you never know what you’ll see while you’re here!
Join us at Gettysburg Battlefield Bus Tours for a warm weekend of fun! Check out our full calendar of tours and be sure to book yours soon – Christmastime on the battlefield can fill up fast! We look forward to spending a happy holiday season with you!
