The Summer of Book Signings

Autograph hunters: grab your camera and your Sharpie and find your way to Gettysburg—this is the Summer of Book Signings! We have three special events coming up that you won’t want to miss.

Our first author celebrity will be arriving on Friday, July 27th and we’re excited to welcome her! Kristie Pohler is the author of “Gettysburg Military Park: The Monuments and Their Stories,” a classic read for anyone interested in Gettysburg. Having studied the Civil War for twenty-five years, Kristie has established herself as an authority on the subject and publishes the online quarterly The Battlefield Journal. She also created the award-winning PBS documentary New England and the Civil War. Kristie will be discussing her books and signing them from 2-4 at the Soldiers’ National Museum, so get there early!

The very next day, Saturday, July 28th, we’ll welcome back Bob O’Connor, the acclaimed author of “A House Divided Against Itself.” The insightful tale, based on actual historical research, follows two brothers on opposite sides of the battlefield and their encounters with each other in and out of battle. Bob has written a number of historical novels and it was he who discovered and published the autobiography of Abraham Lincoln’s personal bodyguard. Join us at the Jennie Wade House anytime from 9-5 to meet this fascinating friend of Gettysburg, chat about his novels, and get yours autographed!

The third book signing will be at the Historic Rupp House on Saturday, August 25th, following “Caroline’s Tea.” The author of “The Jennie Wade Story,” Cindy Small, will give a special presentation to attendees and will be available afterwards to sign copies of her book. “The Jennie Wade Story” is regarded as the book that set the record straight about Jennie Wade, and is the culmination of much research into the life of the remarkable young woman. The Tea begins at 11:30, so make sure you reserve your place! Call (877) 874-2478 for information and tickets.

Three marvelous authors, three gripping books…build your library and your autograph collection this summer with a visit to Gettysburg!
