As we are getting ready for 2013 to begin and the winter months are here we all begin to think of summer and where we would like to go on vacation, keep Gettysburg, PA in mind as it played a major role in the Civil War. But, we are more than just the Civil War. There is always something going on and our events are family oriented. Below find some of our annual events that may be of interest to you and your family:
Living History Weekends on Battlefield
Each weekend, April through October
Various entities including the American Civil War Museum, General Lee’s Headquarters and the Gettysburg National Military Park, host Living History Encampments. Re-enactors from different regiments, both North and South, and civilian groups set camp and live as they did in 1863. Take a step back in time as these groups offer military and medical demonstrations, and shed light into the life and times of the Civil War. Visitors have the opportunity to interact with the soldiers and civilians – learning about history in a fun and memorable way!
15th Annual Greyhounds in Gettysburg

57th Apple Blossom Festival
May 4-5, 2013
This event is held the 1st weekend in May. Spring is in the air with the blossoms on the trees. Amazing to see.
Gettysburg Outdoor Antique Show

66th Semi-Annual Bluegrass Festival
This event is the 1st one of the year for the Bluegrass lovers and the celebrities will amaze you.
146th Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonies

This event has been taking place in our time since right after the Civil War. A time to remember and reflect on our past and what took place in our small town. Come join us.
(Includes Brass Band & History Meets the Arts)—This is one of our most recent annual events for the art lovers. Culin0ary, bands, poets, etc. Something for everyone.

Annual event that takes place around the 4th of July each year. Battle Reenactments, demonstrations, Sutler Village for shopping and church service. Sure to please the Civil War enthusiasts.
Gettysburg Bike Week
July 11th-14th, 2013
This event is for the visitor who likes their motorcycles and wants to join in the festivities. Includes the parade of chrome. Held at two locations: Granite Hill Camping Resort. A full schedule of events and All Star Complex.
67th Semi-Annual Bluegrass Festival
August 15th-18th, 2013
If you can’t make the first one of the year then don’t miss this one. Sure to be exceptional and full of fun.
Apple Harvest Festival
Always held the 1st two weekends in October
Food galore pertaining to apples (apple fritters, apple dumplings, applesauce, apple butter, apple funnel cake, apple cider, etc). Make your own scarecrow, entertainment throughout the grounds, car show, and craft vendors. This event has something for everyone. Come early and stay late.
Remembrance Day Events
This event consists of speakers, and our own Jim Getty, who portrays Lincoln, gives the Gettysburg Address. Our annual luminary is held this weekend, an emotional event as well as breathtaking.
