Campfire Cooking

Coca-Cola Chicken

Campfire Cooking Quite a few of our visitors to Gettysburg each year are campers. So what a better July featured recipe then Coca-Cola Chicken. Sounds delicious.

We took the recipe from the cookbook “Campfire Cooking”. If anyone makes this we would love feedback or pictures.

Coca-Cola Chicken

  • 8  Boneless skinless chicken breast halves
  • 1  (12 oz.) can Coca-Cola
  • 1 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1  yellow onion, diced
  • 3  cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp. chili powder

Build a campfire using briquettes and dig a hole in the coals for the Dutch oven. Place chicken breast halves in a 12 inch Dutch oven. Set Dutch oven in hole. In a large bowl, combine Coca-Cola, ketchup, diced yellow onion, minced garlic, and chili powder. Mix well and pour mixture over chicken. Place lid on Dutch oven and set 14 to 16 briquettes on lid. Bake chicken for 60- 70 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.

Happy camping!
