Well fall is here and in Adams County, Pennsylvania one of our huge events is the Apple Harvest Festival held the first 2 weekends in October. At the festival you will find plenty of delicious food featuring Adams County apples. Orchards in the area offer the opportunity to pick your own apples, so why not visit us, take a bus tour, pick some apples and go on a ghost walk. Listed below is our October recipe featuring what else apples.
Mix and sift:
- 1 cup of flour
- 1 ½ tsp. baking soda
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- 3 Tbsp. powdered sugar
- ¼ tsp. salt
Add ½ cup milk to dry ingredients, gradually and 1 egg- well beaten. Pare, core and cut 2 medium sized apples in eighths, then slice and thin and stir into batter. Drop by spoonfuls and fry in deep fat. Cook until light brown. Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel and sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar.
