Friday, December 1  First Friday.  Presented by the Gettysburg Area Retail Merchants Association.  Includes live music, demonstrations, receptions, special sales and later business hours (until 8 PM).  Look for the First Friday banner at participating Gettysburg area shops, galleries, and restaurants.

Friday, December 1-Sunday, December 31  An Eisenhower Christmas.  See the Eisenhower home decorated in 1950s style for the holidays.  Many of Ike’s and Mamie’s own Christmas heirlooms on display.  Buses depart from the Gettysburg Museum & Visitor Center, 1195 Baltimore Pike at regular intervals throughout the day, from 9 AM to 5 PM.  Closed Christmas Day.  Call 717-338-9114 for details.

Friday, December 1-Sunday, December 31  National Wreath Project.  At the Soldiers’ National Cemetery, Gettysburg.  About 1600 wreaths will be donated for decoration of soldiers’ graves in the National Cemetery.  Wreath layings will take place at 1 PM on December 1st; and will remain up through December 31st.  Viewings are free to the public.  Call 717-337-1728 for volunteer or donation information.

Saturday, December 2  3rd Annual Victorian Christmas on Steinwehr Avenue.  Join Gettysburg businesses on Steinwehr Avenue for an old-fashioned holiday event.  All day.   Includes carriage rides, live music, Santa & Mrs. Claus, and holiday refreshments.  Call 717-334-6245 for details.

Saturday, December 2  Victorian Author Book Signings.  At the Adams County Library, located on the corner of Baltimore and High Streets, 3rd floor.  Author Christine Trent will appear at 11 AM, Cordelia Biddle at 2 PM, and Beth Rebert will tell the story of The Polar Express, offering a magical ride of this beloved Christmas classic.  At this 4 PM event, guests are welcome to participate dressed in their pajamas.  Call 717-334-5716 for more information.

Saturday, December 2  Scary Ghost Stories and Tales of the Glories @ The Jennie Wade  House.  On Christmas Eve 1863 the Mother of Jennie Wade, Mary, was still coping with the death of her 20 year old daughter.  Tonight the spirit of Mary Wade has returned to the scene of that tragic death as she painfully tries to make sense of just how it all came to be.   Tickets can be purchased online at www.ghostlyimages.net or by calling Gettysburg Tours (717) 334-6296, option 1.  Tour begins at the Jennie Wade House.  Also held on Saturday Night, Dec. 9th, 16th & 23rd.  Cost:  $15 per person (ages 8 and over).  Advance reservations recommended.

Saturday, December 2  Gettysburg Christmas Parade.  An annual holiday event, beginning at 7 p.m.  Parade travels its traditional route from Lefever Street to Baltimore Street, through Lincoln Square and up York Street.
